Once again this year the Wilson Police Department Police Athletic and Activities League will partner with the Wilson Tobs to hold a two day baseball camp. This baseball camp targets youth of Wilson between the ages of 9 through 12 that normally would not have the opportunity to learn about baseball. This camp is offered free of charge to all participants and transportation is also provided free of charge. The participants will meet every morning at 0900 hours and receive breakfast prior to taking the field. The youth will then participate in learning basic baseball fundamentals which we will build on throughout the camp. Our goal is to introduce baseball to kids that may not have had the opportunity in hopes we will spark interest and afford them a pathway to playing baseball in the future.
The Wilson Tobs, a local baseball team consisting of Collegiate baseball players from all around the country, have graciously partnered with the Wilson Police Department PAL program to assign players to work with the youth of Wilson and volunteers of the Wilson Police Department to teach these kids the sport of baseball. The camp ends each day with a free picnic lunch before the kids are transported to their homes.
